Today someone said ‘how is it that you’re from the south and still have compassion and empathy and aren’t like I would expect?’ I replied ‘probably because I read romance. It lets me live other people’s lives and learn about all kinds of things’.

The author's mom was in my high school class, and is one of the most deeply kind and principled people I've known. This story of a journey in faith is so rewarding to read, and exemplifies what (I think) Jesus would want us to do. The last paragraph made me cry.
