We drive our electric vehicle a lot.

I really want manufacturers to include how far an electric vehicle can drive in 12 hours alongside how far it can drive on a single charge.

For example, my Tesla Model X can drive 218 miles on a single charge but it can drive 650 miles in 12 hours with charging.

We need this change in verbiage!

Super exciting! 15 cities in California plus additional cities in Tennessee and Colorado have bans in place on the building of new gasoline stations. This is great!

These aren’t small cities either. They include Sacramento, Los Angeles and Memphis Tennessee.

This major US city wants to ban new gas stations
Sacramento is the latest city proposing to ban new gas stations or upgrading existing stations, unless you’re adding EV charging.

It’s amazing that we have EV’s like the Hyundai Ioniq 6 achieving 4.54 mi/kWh in the city and Lucid Air getting 4.15 mi/kWh on the highway.

The efficiency Hyundai and Lucid have been able to squeeze out of these models is a feat of engineering all around. 👏

On several occasions this past year, we drove 800 miles in 15 hours using our electric vehicle that has 230,000 miles still on the original battery. This despite its relatively short 220 mile range.

Range between charging 2 stations means nothing. It’s about how many miles you can drive in 15 hours

Our electric vehicle energy consumption the last 9 years of driving:

2015-2020: 40,000 kWh
2021: 24,000 kWh
2022: 23,000 kWh
2023: 14,000 kWh

We’ve used 101,000 kWh to drive our electric vehicles over the past 9 years.

We’ve saved 11,000 gallons of gasoline from being burned into the air.

The most miles we’ve ever driven our electric vehicle in a single month was 10,300 miles. We ended up driving just over 65,000 that year. We’re not Uber or Lyft drivers. We just like really long electric vehicle road trips with the dog and kiddos.

A little about myself. I’m a network engineer who’s also obsessed with electric vehicles. We typically drive our electrics vehicles between 55k and 65k miles per year. We have two EV’s right now. One with 60k miles and another with 223k miles.

Feel free to ask me anything about EV’s.
