We ❤️ HB Public Library!
@supporthbpl.bsky.social
We are a grassroots group of residents in Huntington Beach, CA, battling an extremist City Council that wants to ban books at our public library. They have also explored privatization of our library.
California voters:

A great day in court! We prevailed on all issues. The judge ruled against the city on everything! HB’s attempt to ban books in our public library has been thwarted.📚📚📚

When our MAGA city council restricts our freedom to read freely, we fight back in court and at the ballot box!

As of this week, these books are still restricted from teens and others at our public library by our city—even though HB citizens voted decisively in June to stop censorship.Plus the new California law prevents these restrictions. 😡

Even after HB voters delivered an electoral mandate against censorship, HB continues to make many books inaccessible to patrons. One is an adult book, Call Me By Your Name, which was made into an Academy Award-winning movie. This violates California's new Freedom to Read law.

A clear and decisive win for Measures A and B! Voters don’t want a book review board or privatization. Our library is fine the way it is!

This awful sign was posted this morning near schools and not far from resort hotels by the Vote no team. VOTE YES on A and B by June 10 to protect our library from these extremist forces!

Patrons explain why HB library should not have a politically charged review board picking books for our families. Save our library—Vote Yes!

Seriously? This book has been restricted for those 17 and under at our library because of the city’s MAGA book banners. I showed this to some doctors who were horrified. 😢

Anti-public library forces are spending $$ to defeat our campaign. (June 10 election) All donations, small and large, will help save our library. www.ourlibrarymatters.org. Thank you! ❤️

docs.google.com/presentation... For those wondering about the history and current status of relocated books at HB Public Library. This is what they do to ban LGBTQ+ books in our town. Pretend it's just about the puberty books. Click on link.

Public libraries should be spaces that are welcoming and inclusive for all, regardless of their religious beliefs or political views. But a noisy bunch of "residents" in Huntington Beach disagree. Vote YES on A and B by June 10 to protect our library from politicians.

Watch out--HB’s thought police has arrived! City officials just yanked the best-selling book, The Guncle, from its ADULT book club for May. They seem concerned about its LGBTQ characters 😱.The slippery slope has arrived. It's not just about the kids' library books in HB. It's also about adult books.

It’s not just about the books. The Huntington Beach City Council is homophobic

Great insight on book banning attempts. Stop the HB City Council from banning books and privatizing the library by voting YES on Measures A and B. Protect our library!

Don’t let Gracey Van Der Mark, Chad Williams, Pat Burns and the other extremists on HB City Council decimate the public library’s book collection. Vote YES on Measures A and B! 📚📚📚📚

Vote YES on Measures A and B by June 10 to save our public library! The City Council should not control how the library is operated. We, the people, should! ourlibrarymatters.org

A presser was held today to launch the Measure A and B campaign. Vote Yes on Measure A and B before June 10 to protect Huntington Beach Public Library from government overreach. Let parents decide what books their kids can read, not politicians!

Last night HB MAGA City Council members accused our team of 100+ volunteers of lying to the Huntington Beach residents about our public library petitions. The Council members are the ones spewing lies. Over 17,000 citizens signed each of our 2 petitions!

Thankfully the Altadena Main Library and Bob Lucas Memorial Library are intact.
