Other things I'm learning: at 7-8°, if I swim for about 10 minutes (300m or so), I don't get the cold drop afterwards. If I swim for around 15 minutes (500m or so) then I need to dress in a hurry, because after ten minutes I'll be shivering, teeth chattering, toes cramped, the whole business.

Of course this happens just after I buy neoprene gloves! Which are amazing, even though hard to put on - it felt completely weird to be swimming and not have my hands prickling and painful.
