Calling a resident from Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast a "class" is hilarious but I'm sticking with it lol

I’ve been loving these, Meg! You two never fail to get me itching to return to Apocalypse World. ☢️

Thinking about how a single page of Apocalypse World or Wanderhome is so enlivening to read, how they need only scraps of the full picture to get your heart fluttering with the possibilities of play!

Whoever’s idea it was to hire Linnea, please give them this for me.

This is wild! I love it.

I’m gathering new music for a new game right now, but my last Burned Over playlist is still pretty 🔥

This is one of my favorite books of all time! Nabokov is such a devil of a writer (endearingly). Have fun with it!

I love this game, and your take on it sounds ☢️ as hell!

This is attractive in so many ways. I'd kill to see more of this game come to fruition! Really, genuinely cool!

We've had a lot of special experiences with this game in our time with it. These same characters have meant so much more than we ever could have expected.

I'd love to share other stories with you—about Sage, or Bastion, or Mercy too—but I'll have to work myself up to the telling. In the meantime:
Last night we played #CityOfWinter, a game of fantasy diaspora by @deernicorn.bsky.social. And something unexpected & beautiful happened.

I can't guarantee your experience with it will look the same as mine—not remotely, I'm sure!—but I can say without a doubt that if you approach City of Winter with an open heart, it *will* find a way to reward you.

How did City of Winter help us end up here?

The structure of the game—an uncertain journey, the sharing of traditions, the inevitability of change and loss—creates such fertile ground for moments of connection, of vulnerability, of mutual discovery.

For a game so simple, it hits pretty hard!

Anyway, this particular session, the game ran late.

We *had* to know, but not a one of us could say for sure.

Our only choice was to find out.

The picture above looks blissful, perfect, but it came in the context of a difficult journey. They'd left behind their childhood homes, lives they'd dreamed of, and more.

That wasn't always easy to play out. Maybe we were caught off guard, then, to be reminded how love happens even amidst all that?
October 24, 2025 at 9:55 PM
Right up until it happened, we genuinely didn't know!

What did they actually feel for each other? Did they feel it the same? Did they feel it strongly enough to overcome everything in their complicated lives that could have pushed them in other directions?
October 24, 2025 at 9:55 PM
This may be when I best understood what @lumpley.bsky.social meant by "play to find out what happens."

We saw them pulled about by expectation, by circumstance, by their own wants & needs. Moments of connection here & there seemed to contradict what we had almost predecided, made us pause & wonder.
October 24, 2025 at 9:55 PM
But! City of Winter is so often about holding lightly to what we think is precious. Perhaps that includes our preconceptions, too?
