State law requires people lobbying legislators to register as lobbyists, but the Legislative Counsel Bureau decided to let violations of that law slide for a former governor, a union boss, and a consultant who was lobbying lawmakers on behalf of the current governor.

Update: due to a tech issues in the building, AB584 will be heard this Thursday. Keep sending those letters until then!
Gov. Lombardo's education bill will be heard later today. It's blame without a budget. AB584 sets Nevada school districts up for failure with unfunded mandates and attempts at privatization. It will harm Nevada's public schools and must be opposed. Send a letter to the #NVleg to oppose.

Nevada lawmakers signaled they will continue funding K-12 teacher raises in the next two-year budget cycle, but charter school staff could be left out of future increases, sparking threats of a gubernatorial veto.

What's actually being "handed out" is just $2 per student in the Governor’s budget. Two dollars doesn’t cover increasing costs, including a 3.25% increase in PERS coming this summer. And it probably also means little or no increases for Nevada educators.

Kevin Powers dodged. Way back in July of 2023, we sent the LCB letter about this issue.

Of course, $2 won't keep up with increasing costs. Two dollars won’t cover most items on a typical elementary school classroom supply list!
