Coach Beam has coached more than 20 student-athletes who played in the NFL and achieved a 90% graduation and transfer rate at Laney College during his tenure. He was a genuine leader who modeled integrity, excellence, and compassion in everything that he did.

transfer rate and 12 former OUSD student athletes. They dealt with a lot of adversity during that season, including team injuries and having to find a smoke-free field to play on after the Camp Fire. Their success was the result of hard work and dedication of the team, coaches, and supporters

Oakland City Councilmember was celebrating Coach Beam and the Laney College Eagles as the #1 junior college football team in the state and nation. It was pure joy to meet Coach Beam and the players and to pack the Council Chambers to honor them. That winning team had a 90% graduation and

As a new Oakland City Councilmember, I had the honor of celebrating Coach Beam and the Laney College Eagles as the #1 junior college football team in the state and nation. We know he is a fighter and a winner, and we send him our very best wishes for recovery and health.

Coach Beam is an Oakland treasure, having been one of the most successful coaches in the city’s history. He led both Skyline High and Laney College to multiple championships, including a national title at Laney in 2018.
