Lurie has yet to appoint Engardio's replacement, but the poll could suggest he doesn't have to pick someone with a firm position on overturning Prop. K." Josh Koen in Power Play Let's face it, many of our neighbors weren't sure about Sunset Dunes last year. But now that we're seeing the benefits (and similar levels of traffic), hearts are changing in the Sunset. This new poll shows a 15 percentage point jump in support for the park in the Sunset - that's huge. We've always known a coastal park is best for both the neighborhood and city. The coast belongs to all San Franciscans, but as Sunset residents, we have a special duty to be stewards for the place we call home.

🚉 A special L train decorated for the occasion will be departing Embarcadero at approximately 12:55pm with arrival to the beach at 1:29pm.

Hop on and enjoy the festivities!

🏘️Most importantly, we’re thrilled that Sunset Dunes has so quickly become a gathering spot for our neighbors, with 35% of visitors from neighborhoods adjacent to the park. San Franciscans make up 62% of visitors, and around half of the rest of those visitors are southern neighbors.
Of all visits to Sunset Dunes, 62% are San Franciscans; 35% (more than half) are from adjacent zip codes (94122, 94116, 94132, 94127) and a pretty even mix of all other zip codes including 3% from 94124 and 94134 (our neighbors in the southeast), 3% from 94112 the Excelsior and 94121 the Richmond, 2% from 94114 the Mission and Noe – refuting the argument that this was just for eastside voters; of the 38% non-SF visits, about half are our neighbors to the south – Daly City, SSF, San Bruno, Pacifica; folks from Berkeley/Oakland/Alameda next, then a smattering of all other Bay Area

📈The park averages around 7800 daily visits on weekends and 3400 on weekdays. For some context, when Francisco Park opened last year, its first month had an average of 800 weekday visits.
Since opening, Sunset Dunes has had over 150,000 visits. Weekend average: 7800 daily visits. Weekday average: 3400 daily visits.

🔥Some exciting news from @sfrecpark.bsky.social: Sunset Dunes is already San Francisco’s third-most-visited city park since officially opening last month, with over 150,000 visits! This is an enormous milestone for a city park, and we’re thrilled by how much the community loves it.
