When will a paradigm shift occur? When enough people abandon the noble lies. When a commanding majority of Americans admit they are not superior or exceptional. The rest of us know this already. It’s been a long wait.

Denial, delusion and ignorance keep most people obeying the wealthy who have no intention of extending their control of resources to helping humanity survive. They will save themselves. They will sacrifice everyone else in the process. Because that’s what imperialism produces.

It is a major paradigm shift if the human species has any hope to survive climate change in reasonable numbers.
I hate that I can see this but others cannot. It has been torturous for the past 8 years trying to convince people to recognize the severity of the existential threat.

If the globe wants to abandon imperialism, we will need to work together, drop the partisan rhetoric and policies.
Hard to do when so many people continue to champion Noble Lies that have held us back as a species for millennia. Many of them Americans confused about US global hegemony.

So they invented a Noble Lie that western civilization defeated fascism and the US was the global leader of the free world. More fascist regimes kept emerging with quiet & sometimes secret US support. Because it bound those nations in loyalty & resource access to US.

Or we embrace change, seek interdependence and develop policy that effectively contains imperialist interests and individuals.

Abandoning imperialism is untried, will be extremely difficult because it may mean global war and enforcement of international law restricting annexation and resource theft and we don’t know if it will change anything.

The globe’s citizens are now at a pivot point. We must decide if we return to unrestrained imperialistic expansionism, pretend hegemonic foreign aid is to improve the circumstances of poorer nations or abandon imperialism as an option.

That doesn’t mean there aren’t great Americans who truly did try to advance democracy, liberalism and fairness within the US and outside of its borders. There are several.

That’s because Russia and several other authoritarian regimes have interfered in American politics. Americans don’t like the result. This has created modest awareness for the interference US has caused for a couple centuries in the Americas & throughout the globe.

I disagree. It’s been all too obvious for every nation that is not American.
What has changed is self reflection and Americans’ ability to justify US policy within the global community. More people are now aware of US pattern of foreign interference.
