I just described my home's interior design scheme as "someone is running a Montessori preschool out of this haunted museum."
Writing a holiday letter this year but I don't want it to come off like I'm just bragging about my kids so I plan to include one absolutely devasting criticism of each of them.

"The Skeleton Dance, a five-minute Disney short from 1929, contains everything I look for in a horror movie today: it's weird, old, uncanny, and unselfconsciously terrifying."

I love Edward Gorey’s theory of art:

“Art…is presumably about some certain thing, but is really always about something else, and it’s no good having one without the other, because if you just have the something it is boring and if you just have the something else it’s irritating.”

Thank you to the Newberry Library for getting me to the Magnificent Mile just in time for peak tweed season! And the Grad Conference was fabulous too!
