I think as well it will let you get referral letters for surgery, since most in the uk won’t accept self-referral even for private care (at least for top surgery and I presume other transition care too). the price is still extortionate but diy only would mean no access to surgeries.

imo another one of the other key differences is that there is 0 societal force telling cis men that if they don’t like it they should transition but there is an awful lot of pressure for trans men to detransition. we are seen (even by allies) as able to opt out in a way cis men aren’t.

it’s also one of several reasons of why I hate being called transmasc — I’m not a masc (a term to me which mostly implies ‘masculine but not a man’) and the fact I’m a man matters to me over any kind of nebulous or subversive masculinity

it feels like a lot of people are trying to cope with the fact they will never be or be indistinguishable from cis men by a) convincing themselves (and other trans people) that this makes them superior actually and b) rejecting full manhood so the distinction seems more deliberate

when I changed my name I also changed my surname bc my dad was a piece of shit. he is not part of my identity, nor should he be. forcing an abuser to be part of someone’s identity is evil.

I would always assume flinta is for women and non-binary people with a focus on uplifting trans women. it doesn’t make me feel uncomfortable but I would be 100% certain that I’m not in the target demographic as a trans man.
