Japan-style ‘tiny forests’ are taking root in British cities

A growing movement is bringing nature back to cities across the UK. The Miyawaki forest method involves planting a diverse mix of densely packed native woodland trees – or “tiny forests” –

Interviews with tree experts reveal that while half of them supported the Miyawake method, especially in specific urban areas, concerns remained about tree mortality and high costs.

Evapotranspiration is the process by which trees release water vapor into the air through their leaves, lowering temperatures by up to 7 degrees. #treessavelives
To keep your cool in a heatwave, it may help to water your trees
Trees and greenspace can drive down urban temperatures – but they must be able to draw water from the soil to achieve these massive cooling effects.

🌱 #DidYouKnow most eucalypts can thrive in pots? Choose the right species, use free-draining native mix, give them sun + shelter, and don’t overwater. Airpots help avoid root issues, and pruning keeps them in shape. More tips + inspo on our Instagram and Facebook 👇

🌿 Gumnuts: Sessile vs Pedicellate 🌿
Pedicellate gumnuts hang on their own little stalks (pedicels) from a group stalk (peduncle).

Sessile gumnuts have no individual stalks—they attach directly to the group stalk.
