The extremely happy face of an author whose latest book has just been described on Radio New Zealand as: "The perfect combination of intelligence, wit and high entertainment – it's absolutely cracking." Thanks so much to @cjrauthor.bsky.social for the review!
Steps up to the Poet’s Seat at Allen Bank, where Wordsworth composed an ode or two. All by myself; a cuckoo calling. Sign said ‘you might catch a glimpse of a red squirrel’. I did not. Did it matter? Only a little.

Was Jane Boleyn really Tudor history's mean girl, or a scapegoat for the real (male) plotters and schemers behind the beheadings of two of Henry VIII's queens?

Watching #Serena on Netflix and I love the mountains and the eagle and the vibe of doom, but Mr Bates from the Post Office is the sheriff and Spike from Notting Hill is a mountain man so … Also I have no idea what's going on

This is gonna hurt! Bracing myself. #anneboleyn
Exciting news! My book, ‘The Final Year of Anne Boleyn’, is now available in paperback in the UK! You can also pre-order a copy via Blackwell’s, which offers free delivery to many countries around the world. Fellow Aussies can also pre-order on Amazon AU.

Happy book birthday to this little belter! 🎉
#2 in our series of romcom novellas, Miss Lovelock's Agency for Broken Hearts. Pure escapism, lots of fun, plus some pass-me-my-fan spice, but beware of some groan-out-loud puns. You've been warned.

So I made my new novella $3.75 in the US, which is about 25% more than in all the other countries, like Canada. Authors – who's with me? #tariffs #Canada

Just got the nice little annual Authors' Licensing payment for copying/use of my work in the UK. Wouldn't it be nice if NZ did this? Authors - if your work is published in the UK make sure you register, every little helps, right? www.alcs.co.uk

Slightly belated thoughts for International Women's Day.
Imagine if …
Kamala was in charge, not Trump
women were in charge, not the Taliban
women were given the chance sort out Gaza
a woman was in charge of Israel
a woman was Russian president
women ruled Iran.

Do people not realise what a sanctuary libraries are? They're vital to communities. This is so shortsighted. Close a sports stadium for a change or a bloody conference centre.
📢 The library closure aims to keep Napier's rates increase below 7.9%.

Copy of book I wrote a loooong time ago and reread last night to remind myself what happens - even spooked myself ✅
Great fun Zoom-chatting with the #NZReadAloud schools this morning. Told them all about the eruption of Mt Tarawera and the phantom waka. What a (true) story that is!

At Auckland harbour just now I met a fisherman who'd caught a ray & was trying to pick it up from where it lay on the pavement. He was afraid it'd sting him. The curses! Funniest thing I've seen in ages 😂 Happy to report he got there in the end, threw it back and it swam away.

This demonstrates how difficult it is to forge a career as a children's writer in NZ but how, if you stay true to yourself, persevere (and have real talent) there can be a happy ending. Elena is one of the nicest writers in NZ but doesn't blow her own trumpet so I will instead. Go read her stuff!
