Pajor was again in the same position in this situation. Pina chose to shoot rather than cross on this occasion. Not getting this with Kika playing as the #9.

I like how they occupy the small area 4v5, decent chance to find a Barça player. Pajor's positioning is perfect.

Fascinating that Esmee's inside left-back role helped to create the first goal. Recovery by Esmee -> Pina -> Pajor. Wingers are not comfortable tracking a full-back so far inside.

The late chance for Athenea, and here Barça got their structure wrong. High line with no pressure on the ball. Aïcha is overloaded in a 1v2 situation, and asking her to do defensive miracles like Ona is not ideal.

This was Madrid's first big chance yesterday. Esmee with a loose pass, Weir received and switched it to Keukelaar for a 3v3. I think with Patri instead of Laia, the defensive positioning would be better.

Barça wingers don't help defensively, and it has obvious consequences. Not sure if there is a magic solution to this issue, especially against better teams in the CL.

I think Joan García is being missed a lot. Szczęsny is not comfortable with his feet, and the defenders are all marked. Christensen found Koundé, but no numerical superiority in build-up, and there was no easy exit pass.

I really hope Flick can help Lamine add off-ball runs to his game. Cubarsí finds Pedri with a great pass, and Toni has done his job to attract a defender.

As long as I see this work ethic, I am not worried. Pilgrim was causing some problems, but seven Barça players have sprinted back to defend a Roma counter-attack with two players.

Found this goal interesting because it contrasts with Flick's structure, where the wingers stay high up the pitch. The wingers Vicky and Pina are defending deep, but willing to run on the counterattack.

High pressure is good, but the ability to play those quick headers by Brugts and Alexia before Bayern's defense can recover, is the key to creating good scoring chances.

Barça's pressing scheme (prior to third goal). Patri has to cover both the Bayern #10, and protect the defense if the goalkeeper Mahmutovic plays it long. What they did very well yesterday was generating quick shots after recovering possession.
