I'm here because the billionaires aren't. I write code, make user interfaces, drink coffee, read, and try to make things a little better for people.

Having just woken up and not being familiar with the abbreviation “DM” for Docs, I first understood this as “if a stranger sends me unwanted DMs because I posted a picture with my feet in it, I will post screenshots to shame them publicly.” “Fair enough,” I thought

yay thank you, we just used it!! I can't wait to hang these up :))

ha yeah well I’m glad it was better! We just got done with our home cooked thing, several things went wrong and I’m beyond exhausted so right now Clyde’s sounds pretty good. But I understand.

Is it that same restaurant again?

It’s inexplicable – they even copied the tweet text into the image alt text. Why not just create a text post?!

Thanks man. I’m sorry if it’s hard for you too

I get so much joy from writing code, mostly by hand. It uses every part of my brain and it's my only successful creative outlet. That job might not even exist in a few years.

So I'll open my laptop back up, start typing away, and feel grateful that someone's paid me to do it for all this time.

I've been so fortunate to make money doing something I love, but I feel a lump in my throat that this might be the last good gig I ever have. I see what big tech is doing and I want no part in it. Nor in the self-fulfilling prophecy of AI – a colossal tail wagging the dog of every product everywhere
November 24, 2025 at 4:27 PM
Also, my startup is running out of runway, lost in a crowded field of AI plays. I've been working on this thing for years now and I really believe in it. It will really help people, if it survives. I'll be sad if it dies. Every feature I add...maybe that'll be the thing that sells us to the VCs.

Part of it is because there's a lot going on in my life that has me anxious and scared and hopeless and over which I have essentially zero control. So all my nervous energy is being channeled into the one thing I can control. To feel like I'm doing *something*, and maybe it's helping *someone*.

I suggest Malbolge

At least wait until they spend more than that in postage, paper and ink before paying!
November 23, 2025 at 10:07 PM
YES I am so excited to hear you all rip this one to shreds
November 20, 2025 at 3:02 PM
Yes!! Apples were just the beginning. Now all your fruit has been enhanced. I hope you like it this way because the only way to go back to unoptimized fruit is a daring heist on the Svalbard Seed Vault

Oh boy, this is a tough one. I’m totally against age-gating laws but anything that lets us pump the brakes on this terrifying societal experiment is a good we desperately need.

Give the poor kids a chance to develop critical thinking skills before they outsource their brains to LLMs.

How come I look exactly 15 years older than when we got together but you haven’t changed at all?! 🧛‍♀️

Oh god, the “concierge” isn’t an AI thing, is it?

OH NO IT IS

Write code to make being human easier. Rip code out if it makes being human harder. Write code to make caring for each other easier. Rip it out if it makes caring for each other harder.

Empathy driven development has literally never failed me. It’s done me better than everything else combined

In China, services have an actual reason to censor (the government will shut them down otherwise) and so there’s a real arms race/“euphemism treadmill” when it comes to ideas the party wants to suppress. Users’ innovation is kind of remarkable over there!
November 6, 2025 at 12:28 AM
Great question. My personal theory about this is that companies aren’t interested in censorship per se – at least not of psychological safety stuff like this – but only in being *seen* to be doing something for political/liability reasons.

I wonder if she can hear the electronics for the screen backlight turning on!

This is so dumb, for multiple reasons including that Gemini is like…the worst one of the bunch
