The evil deities who created other races, though, made those races to serve them. Those races have strong inborn tendencies that match the nature of their gods. Most orcs share the violent, savage nature of the orc gods, and are thus inclined toward evil. Even if an orc chooses a good alignment, it struggles against its innate tendencies for its entire life. (Even half-orcs feel the lingering pull of the orc god’s influence.)

scurrying lethargic bones and skin drag against the floor threatening to open old wounds that only look like scars in the right light never walk into a room without knowing how the sun illuminates and take a bandage, or four disease-ridden and hungry, protruding belly and loose teeth that used to bite down hard on its own jagged claws or the well-meaning onlookers, frightened of what they might become if they met your hollow gaze anything is edible once go back for seconds when you can but never thirds be a nuisance, never a pest. a fly on the wall is different than a fly in your glass take your cheese and run. if the frame is broken, beyond the fantasy of repair the damp wood grows a new invasive lifeform it is discarded, painting and artist and paint and all irredeemably parasitic still beautiful and alive thriving, even. and the offering is declined by the feasting termites who have been waiting years for a meal, starving themselves in anticipation it will not find itself back on the wall by happenstance or luck returned to any façade of a rightful place to be a visage of beauty the wood will crack and warp and the beholder's eyes will turn away held up now to the flash by a single appendage lithe weary eyes interlocked in the moment between the crack and the splinter blurring lines non-existent the benevolent hero unceremonious disposes of this indisposed flesh and the trap still lays in wait unsprung hungry steel warmer than the hands maintaining the illusion of separation

I really miss my rats yo, they were such nifty little guys + I loved them and wish I had more time with them but I gave them what I could and the vet said that they were surprisingly happy despite being old and sickly. Kinda ethically opposed to owning rats now tho. Feels wrong, like keeping crows
