This is such a fantastic take. It’s giving up on the illusion of fairness, yes, but it’s also giving up on the illusion that there is something fundamentally wrong with you. It’s acknowledging your powerlessness and vulnerability, but also opening you up to accept love. Which is what Loser Baby is.

I loved reading your analysis. This just reminded me that the difference between Val’s contract versus Alastor’s has been acknowledged by the show already in Loser Baby (below). Angel’s contract is more all-encompassing, but yes, sloppy. While Husk’s is less restricting, but much harder to break.

The lack of faith people have in this show’s writing is astounding. Vivziepop said in an interview that the next season will explore “how Husk comes to realize just how different his situation is from Angel’s.” The show is well-aware that they are different. But Alastor and Val are both abusers.
