Nice one. Last year was mine. It's a bit odd in one way but you'll do it.

The first time I used ping (the computer one), the icon was of a submarine, because ping on computers is rather like using radar/sonar- you are waiting for a reply to bounce back.

The word "ping" used in any context other than sonar or the computer command. e.g: "ping me over an email".

I don't know every detail, because I'm not a PIP claimant, but the basic thing is that the government pays a person PIP, and that is fixed at one of 2 rates, the higher one qualifies. You have a more expensive car, you pay. I don't know how (if?) they propose to save money by limiting choice.

That is a very good question, and it suggests that this has fuck all to do with any real saving and a lot to do with pandering to the Daily Mail.

No, a motability car should be suitable for the person that claims the PIP that pays for it and for their use case. PIP is there to pay for the additional cost of a disability.

There is a nasty section of right-wingers, fed by the right-wing press that insist that:

* Having a blue badge means you have a motability car
* The motability scheme provides free premium cars

These people will literally not be happy until disabled people are driving Invacars again.

"Higher-end vehicles account for about 50,000 of the vehicles leased by the scheme, with customers paying the additional cost for a premium vehicle using their own money."
November 25, 2025 at 7:24 PM
"The removal of the premium cars from the scheme comes despite the fact that those vehicles were available at no extra cost to the taxpayer, because disabled drivers paid more for them from their own pockets."

So long as the disabled know their place then?

You don't get extra PIP if you lease a BMW, you know.
November 25, 2025 at 7:10 PM
But why *shouldn't* someone have a BMW, seeing as how they will have to contribute the extra cost?
