There are some exceptions to the rules.

Containers have been around since a lot of time but got really good for the larger public when docker made a cool CLI around it.

But until the whole ecosystem starts a real shift to its ecosystem the solution won't spread enough to be used by everybody.

Solutions that are deeply though of and solved at a core level often are hard to integrate with a good UX.

A lot of those kind of solve problems is not so the solution itself but how to make it easy to use for the common programmer or the common folks.

A perfect example of that is Nix. Nix fixes mostly 99% of issues around software distribution and os configuration thanks to its model.
