The amount of progressive white women I've come across that are dating/married to/involved with men that are conservative (oh, he's libertarian, but he understands social justice!!1!!)...It's an extension of that "it's just politics" mantra.

It's a very long story, but Trayvon Martin. Seeing people in my circle humanize Trayvon in the beginning and then seeing them believe the Fox News lies about him really fucked me up and I honestly don't like talking about it. I lost a lot of friends over it. Almost my entire village as a new mom.
