That's as may be, but when the legal teams of most major publishers have insisted on it being added to all copyright pages, I'd cover my bases. I've even got a German example!

I think they were being found and maybe they wanted something in there to give an impression of what the final look would be? The sentence at the beginning of the appendix was probably put in just in case reviewers assumed they were final ones. Here's the credit for the final images.
