It's been a minefield in Beaujolais since 2015, I'm always happy to find a bottle that reminds me why I fell in love with the wines years ago. Good producers trump vintage/climate change, but even following that rule, I've opened some super-ripe or mean & green bottles. I guess that's everywhere tho

A small % of the palomino is left in sun for a day passito-style to concentrate the sugars & allow fermentation over 15%. No spirit added, so the whole thing is pure fino deliciousness without any of the angles or volatile aggressiveness. A cheese plate, tinned fish, a bottle & me is a happy thing.

I started drinking these years ago when Dressner brought them into the US & no one had heard of the Jura. Eye opening/mind blowing wines for $30. Now the prices are insane and there are many other producers who bring similar joy (Saint Pierre, Renardiere, Bornard, etc) so I'll put my $ elsewhere.

You know, I'd seen it both as Poulsard and Ploussard for years, and only recently learned that they use Ploussard in the village of Pupillin, because of local dialect.
