An analyst's mind, a writer's heart, a shitposter's soul

If you're not reading theory, you're doing it wrong
Why yes hello, what stage of capitalism is it when a well-to-do town's train station gets locked up and is subsequently turned into a police station?

A criminally underrated aspect of the increasing unaffordability of homes is that our financial crises are becoming low-rent.

There is currently a subprime loan crisis for cars. Two lenders have gone bankrupt and delinquencies are at the highest level in decades.

Every Funko Pop is a policy failure

That said, her essay in The Cut has a passage that must be the most ironic thing I've read in years. This is a portrait of someone devoid of self-awareness.

I'm fascinated by this mentality that influencers have adopted over the past few years, especially when juxtaposed with recession indicator memes.

Maybe it's because I remember the Great Recession, didn't memory-hole 2020, or maybe I'm just old now. But, sometimes, the money doesn't come back.

One of the more fascinating (and jarring) aspects of aging is that I have not only lived through multiple trend cycles, but I have now been on this earth long enough to see them repeat.

Whether it's Gaza or the prospect of protracted war in Iran, America's exportation of violence in the Middle East has never been this universally unpopular.

Kamala shamelessly positioned herself as a hawk last election cycle and lost because of it. To this day, the DNC has learned nothing.

Something that fascinates me about this site is that I will regularly see the most braindead take on Bluesky's discourse du jour and it is always the same guy.

Is it a humiliation kink or can someone's head really be this empty?

I cannot stress this enough: even if you can disregard the moral implications of AI (and you can't), outsourcing basic human connection to a machine is a monumental fuckup. If you do this, you are failing at the most basic human behavior.

Stop doing this. It makes you less than human!

You cannot even get a beater from a dealership anymore.

The cheapest cars I could find on CarMax and Carvana (excluding smart cars and things like that) are both $9k. Cars like these cost about half of that in 2019.

If you have a car and it's paid off, drive that thing until the wheels fall off.
June 12, 2025 at 12:46 AM
Fun fact, according to Experian, the average interest rate for a used car was 11.87 in Q1.

That's insane. Assuming you finance the $30k, you're easily looking at a $600/mo car payment

I don't know what's worse: saying what Suzy Weiss is saying earnestly as if it's a bad thing or the fact that this is Bari Weiss' sister.

I'm so glad Bourdain doesn't have to live in this hell. To take someone as unpretentious as Bourdain and lump him into pseudo-masculinity is bullshit

I would not be surprised to find out I am the youngest person to have done a DIY tonearm installation/mod.

The future is here and it's 70s DIY audio culture. Read more about the joys of connecting with tech on my substack (I am a stranger without a substack)

The framing of working out as a conservative trait happened in part due to online leftists insisting on doing "is working out fascist?" discourse every 6-8 months. Ceding ground on non-issues led to this headline.

It is your moral and intellectual obligation to have a normal take about working out.

In my quest to reclaim the DIY nature of audio equipment in the 70s and become a little more self-sufficient with my tech, I fear that I have become an audiophile (derogatory)

"Our weirdness about AI isn't why we're shutting down. Please do not put in the paper that we're shutting down because of our weird statements on AI. Let the record show that it's the community's fault for not donating hard enough."

This is such an embarrassing way to go

It's hard enough to get a refund when a driver runs off with your Chipotle order, so I imagine this is going to go really well

Let him make a Substack and work on Civ VII UI mods. Bring back our hero

Amazing things happening on Twitter. People who never supported ending the genocide in Gaza to begin with now have feelings about having lost the election due to their apathy

With liberals like these, who needs fascists?

Nobody who has purchased a Funko Pop will see the kingdom of heaven

Holy shit it bled into his manifesto lmao

The sentiment is compelling, but his desire for a derivative title contradicts what he's saying. Could do without the sciolistic bullshit.

Semi-serious gripes aside, I do not wish the American healthcare system upon my worst enemy.
