My alternative to doom scrolling is to photograph the birds in my Shropshire garden.

Google says this is a starling. I thought it was a fledgling but when it eventually flew off it seemed quite competent.

I saw one of these ten years ago (9/8/8/2014) at my parents' old house in West Wickham. Not seen any before or since. It was a highlight at a time when everything else was fading.

Maybe, yes. Also the stopthetories site has just decided to support labour too so it looks likely that's the way I'll go. As I've said before, the price of getting it wrong is a new Tory MP (as the old one is not standing this time).
