At NYP maybe the excuse is that the platforms are very cramped (more so than in Europe). But even at other stations with larger platforms, they will gate you from entering the platform until they deem it appropriate

The problem is Amtrak doesn’t let you go to the platform whenever you want to. They keep the gate closed until they feel like it

Queuing should not even exist, everywhere else in the world outside North America you just get on and the conductor checks your ticket on the train

btw---I stopped going to some businesses in upper lawrenceville because they freaked out when domi suggested charging for parking in order to pay for traffic calming

yeah it's shitty past stanton. unfortunately butler st is a PennDOT managed road, which means any modifications have to go through PennDOT approval which is very difficult (they won't even agree to traffic calming let alone bike lanes)

You can take back streets instead of butler between where smallman st ends and up to mccandless. After that you gotta get on butler for a couple more blocks though
