Summarized: The assets were created before it was widely known how bad generative AI is aka 2022. If you look at the assets you can see that they look like earlier generations.

But now, thanks to that post, people are discrediting the work of human artists on this game and calling for its downfall. And what’s worse, people were already looking for a reason to hate it because of all the awards it won, so the (what I truly believe is undeserved) backlash has been tenfolded.

Whatever happened, I do believe that if gen-AI was used it was extremely little, and they immediately corrected the mistake and usage of it. And it’s clear they don’t want any of it in their game now nor for future titles. Mistakes were made and they learned (unlike some other developers…).

Purely speculation but if anything I wouldn’t be surprised if primitive gen-Ai was played with during those early years and then steered clear from. It’s clear from below that the creator doesn’t want it in their work. The textures could have even come from UE5’s stock technology for all we know.

It wasn’t even said in that quote what type of AI is used. The only generative-AI that has been seen with E33 was a placeholder texture that was removed within a week of launch. This game has been in development for *six years*, longer than generative-AI was even a thing
