Interesting that MDT is so resistant to explaining directional preference beyond biomechanics sometimes and embracing contemporary pain sciences. Getting my posts off Twitter because we all know why #physio #physicaltherapy #chiro #MDT #mckenzie #pain #science

Can you guess who had more pain? And why do you think that? Let’s discuss the complexity of pain #pain #physio #physicaltherapy #chiro #healthcare #medicine

At this point I don't think people actually have the attention span to learn anything about working with humans besides "it's
complex" #healthcare #physicaltherapy #chiro #physio #physiotherapy #medicine

Manual therapy arguments are so boring ? it doesn't even move the needle anymore. It's played out, uninspired, and not even an important debate for the profession #manualtherapy #physiotherapy #physio #medicine #healthcare #chiro #physicaltherapy

Also it’s illegal for me to do in my state. So if I think it’s useful do acupressure instead because of the research #physicaltherapy #physio #physiotherapy #health #medicine #healthcare #dryneedling

The idea of adding tools to a tool box as an approach to being a clinician always irks me. Since most of medicine is about decision making and critical thought versus specific techniques or exercises #physio #physicaltherapy #medicine #health #pain

What are some of the top things the average person believes that are likely not helpful when it comes to rehab and recovery?

I don’t think every single patient should do these because it depends but seems there is a lot of push back in having patients do easily progressed exercises with functional carry over. Old school mentality? What do you think these reasons are we avoid high intensities? #physio #physicaltherapy

Inside of me when you look up RDLs on HEP2Go and the description includes no less then 4 nocebos and doesn't even correctly describe what an RDL is #exercise #health #physio #physicaltherapy #fitness #deadlift #medicine #pain

Reading through all the Louis Gifford books and man he was way ahead of his time I’m not sure #physio is ready for these concepts even 10 years after #medicine #physicaltherapy #fitness #health #chronicpain #pain

Clinicians need to prioritize CEUs and engaging in things that improve their thinking and reasoning far more then techniques and exercise selection #physio #physicaltherapy #healthcare

Healthcare I think has an application problem translating research to practice and misunderstanding what some research actually means #healthcare #medicine #physio #physicaltherapy #chiropractic

Manual therapy is not evil 🚫. The narratives we use can be 🗣️. Especially because of all these wonderful benefits ✨ the body can produce with manual therapy. Remember: the body is doing these things, not us 🤲.

Manual therapy can have many great effects 🙌 that can help patients in rehab. I am not a hands-off therapist 👐. Despite my work with patients who have chronic pain 😣 and my focus on exercise 🏋️‍♂️ and teaching self-treatment 🧠.

Thinking critically means solving problems, adapting in uncertain situations, and going beyond algorithms or recipes. When something unique arises, we need to think, not throw up our hands.

Skilled tradespeople, for example, have loads of tools, but they rely on a few key ones in versatile ways. They master these through trial, error, and reflection.

🔍 In science-based fields, the real skill is critical thinking. It’s not about the tools themselves but how we use them.
