God save the king. Account abandoned to comply with UK law.
It's dangerous for me, and nothing I'm doing is valuable enough artistically (I suck anyway) or journalistically; to be worth putting my safety at risk.

I find D76/Id-11 is fine, but I get significantly better fine detail (especially in shadows) with DD-X. I have a standing policy: tabular grain film is only developed in DD-X. Delta, T-Max and Acros alike.

If you like food, cook. If you like computers, program. If you like vehicles, buy a Warp 9 and get wiring. :D

No-one buying a Beetle in 1962 was benefiting the Nazi regime. It's a different story between buying a Tesla today - in that buying a Tesla right now DOES help fund him. That's the problem, not the mental or emotional association with pedo guy.

Oh god no, hydrogen's a nightmare! Oh no, I haven't used my car for a week. Welp, better get it towed because all the fuel bled off to maintain pressure safety. Plus in reality, Hydrogen is just promoted as a way to allow oil companies to keep digging. Can we split the difference on Ethanol PHEV? ;)

Battery cars good. Battery cars made by bigoted monopolists, bad. VW Beetle with it's dead engine replaced by a conversion battery system that can actually be repaired and serviced by normal people unlike most modern "sealed-unit" EV's... heaven.

Startpage, /e/os, OSMAND (Based on OpenStreetMap data), and using nerd companies like Mythic Beasts (UK) for email hosting to get you off Gmail/Outlook/iCloud etc. No good YouTube alternative though, and no good Twitch alternative to deamazon.

The basic point of "digital is cheaper" is still loosely true, but wow "whatever-smartphone-you-already-have vs BW on a film camera with top quality professional scans" is one hell of an unreasonable comparison. Simple truth - you want high quality it's always expensive no matter the medium. 🤷🏽

"There are the prices you pay unless you have a Darkroom" but like. 80% of his stated costs are for the scanning? Which you can do with a laptop on your couch, as long as a coffee table is nearby to hold a scanner. And he ignores the cost of replacing digital cameras, which tend to be shorter-lived?

Though it would be fine if it wasn't. Eye of the beholder, etc. :)

I think it's gorgeous! Like a 1950's TLR! :D

2 years of full democratic control IF you call those two democrats; but yeah - agree 100%. Biden was a fool who thought Trump was done and didn't use the tools he did have to protect American democracy, and now the USA has a mad king and a South African jester. Good luck!
January 23, 2025 at 1:09 PM
This I certainly agree with, but to be honest it was far too late by the time that became relevant. Biden never had enough control. He didn't have the senate (Sinema/Manchin), he didn't have the house after 2022 and he didn't have the supreme court. 14amd would never have been usable.

I don't get to make that call for the whole world.

I'm not arguing the facts, but the limits of free speech are a political opinion almost by definition. That includes the free speech of billionaires. I'd argue it's unambiguously interference. But other equally valid voices argue that it's just democracy in action. I'm a shitty photographer:

Seems pretty unlikely there was significant fraud of the kind the fascists alleged in 2020. It also seems pretty obvious there was "interference" from Bezos, Musk, Putin, etc in terms of damaging and biased publishing. Whether you consider that illegitimate is I guess a personal decision.

If I'm printing a part to repair something (e.g. a headphone swing arm) the waste material is going up against replacing an entire product because my only other option is throw it away and start again. 3D printing still tends to win. But yes - printing mono, I have 10-20% waste and color could be 50
