The Bessemer data center was approved. Alabama river alliance is right that the fight isn't over, this is an extremely unpopular project that no citizen wants. But for now, the Birmingham darter, the newly discovered darter, now sits closer to extinction

Ultimately, the Council voted 5-2 in favor of the zoning change to allow for the development of data center. We want to thank Councilmembers Cleo King and Donna Thigpen for listening to each and every community member and voting NO on this monster of a project. By greenlighting this project while ignoring serious questions and public records requests, the Bessemer City Council has turned its back on the very communities it is supposed to serve. We remain confident that this project will not come to fruition in its current form, and ARA will support neighbors in their continuing fight to ensure that their questions are answered, and their homes, livelihoods, and communities are protected. Stay tuned!"

the bessemer data center is wildly unpopular nobody wants it but officials are acting like they dont have fucking ears and are soooooo ready to tear down 700 acres of forest and put in 18 buildings that are 250,000sqft EACH right on a creek containing the imperiled birmingham darter

Next set of books are in :) once I finish up and talk about an entirely synthetic fish I'll start w the shortest book of these first which is between the serviceberry and beyond fair chase

Excerpt from the foreword of a sand county almanac reading: conservation is getting nowhere because it is incompatible with our Abrahamic concept of land. We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect. There is no other way for land to survive the impact of mechanized man, nor for us to reap from it the esthetic harvest it is capable, under science, of contributing to culture. That land is a community is the basic concept of ecology, but that land is to be loved and respected is an extension-- (continued on next image) Continued from previous image: of ethics. That land yields a cultural harvest is a fact long known, but latterly often forgotten. These essays attempt to weld these three concepts. Such a view of land and people is, of course, subject to the blurs and distortions of personal experience and personal bias. But wherever the truth may lie, this much is crystal clear: our bigger-and-better society is now like a hypochondriac, so obsessed with its own economic health as to have lost the capacity to remain healthy. The whole world is so greedy for more bathtubs that it has lost the stability necessary to build them, or even to turn off the tap. Nothing could be more salutary at this stage than a little healthy contempt for plethora of material blessings Perhaps such a shift of values can be achieved by reappraising things unnatural,tame and confined in terms of things natural, wild and free.

Yeah! I bought two separate mixes, a general pollinator mix and a butterfly and hummingbird mix. Also I apologize the room I'm in is a little dark I can move to better lighting if you need
