A serious person who does big things
When did the "knifecrime island" stuff start, and especially the idea that London specifically is overrun with stabbers? 'cause I'd be willing to bet it tracks with Khan's election

He thinks the UK's problem is inadequate signage, no?

They have the additional problem that a chunk of their 2024 coalition was voters going "Yeah, they're absolutely lying about not raising taxes" and voting for them on that basis

Like, the Starmerite strategy is very bad but the core 2024 observation that Reform was much more disliked than other parties and is staffed by people whose views are a small minority in the UK wasn't wrong at all.

It's just that Labour decided to make themselves just as unpopular for Reasons

I think it's rather too complacent to keep saying "Reform is how older Brits say 'I don't know how I'm voting'" but given almost all their policy positions are the 20 side of an 80/20 split...

I mean, Kemi Badenoch is doing her best! But her best is not very good.

Environmentalism is also not remotely unpopular in the UK. Ed Miliband, the guy in charge of decarbonisation, is approximately the most popular government minister (also the most effective one), and pivoting toward green policy was a key plank of Boris Johnson's 2019 victory.

Kier Starmer would probably be much better at his job if he actually gave up on winning!

I've often thought this

Dresden Files does the same thing, which is weird in that Christianity appears to also be objectively true in that universe

Ehhh I'd seen criticism in fandom circles back to, what, 2013? But much of it (and other critiques) remained in fandom circles.

Funnily enough this js a thought process shared by both Corbynites and Starmerites
