I was thinking about just how similar "fan" and "otaku" have become. Both started with negative connotation (fan shortened from fanatic) Both have by sheer volume turned it into a badge of honor. Entire cultures, and industries have developed around them. But that negative, never went away..

I think its fair to say regarding advertising, youtube has become worse than televison for advertising. Why is it fair? I've never watched a tv show where if I was away or nodded off it randomly inserts a 4 hour video on crypto or some other nonsense. Or give me like 8 adbreaks in 30min.
