【NAKASENDO】Shout out to the #cats of the Nakasendo, between Magome-juku and Tsumago-juku. They were all beautiful and practically perfect, 9.5/10, my visit was greatly improved by their presence. -.5 for always refusing to pose in front of the lovely townscape, though... 📷 11.18.24 #japan

【KURASHIKI・ACHI SHRINE】I suppose it was a very silly thing to do, but I saw someone else had picked up the quince fruit from the ground and placed them in lanterns and on torii gates… so I picked one up and put it on the left guardian lion-dog. Now they match. 📷 11.27.24 #japan #shrine #photography

【SEKI-JUKU】I really want to explore more of the old shukuba (post towns)… this one had a bevy of cute cafes, antique shops, a temple with great wood carvings, and several preserved inns and homes to explore. There were all sorts of little details to catch the eye. 📷 24.10.6 #japan #photography

【GYOKI-JI TEMPLE】This temple in Kaizu, Gifu, had an amazing collection of hell scrolls and some impressively painted coffered ceilings… but the best part was the view! The high elevation made it seem as if you were looking down on the city from a temple in the clouds. 📷 24.10.6 #japan #photography

Some people have Mariah Carey… some people have decorations showing up in a certain store… my “oh god, Christmas is coming” sign is… the hideous yellow tweedy bird tree in Zest Oike… GOOD ON THEM FOR CHARITY WORK but I’m sorry, I’m a yellow hater, that shade doesn’t belong on that tree!!!

I don’t tend to follow much contemporary art, but the Chiharu Shiota exhibition at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka really captivated me… a bit hard to explain without being there, how the threads would throw off depth perception and disorient, but also connect… but very cool #japan #art
