My name is Jess (she/her). Treaty One.
He even looks disappointed in himself after he says it. So gross.
A slightly wild number of people seem to think this video of Trudeau saying “I am a Zionist” is AI, so here’s a fresh screen recording I just took from the CPAC video of his speech — which was given yesterday.

Full speech here, clip is around 7:45: www.youtube.com/live/eaCiJr2...

Ryan DOES pay too much, because of unfair legal rules allowing MB landlords to permanently jack up rents and their profits by claiming to pass on temporary repair costs to renters. Minister Sandhu and the NDP govt needs to fulfill their promise to end outrageous rent hikes & protect tenants.

Thanks to @bpincott.bsky.social for outlining these thoughts on yesterday's hearing. I'll be thinking about the experience for a while. The three words that keep circling in my head: process as violence. A slow and violent death where we choose parking over people, for eternity.

and, as always, some of the most targeted during resurgences of economic nationalism and economic protectionism are migrants (esp migrant workers and refugees). this is *exactly* what the stabilization of capitalism requires. because insourcing & outsourcing are flipsides of the same capitalist coin

Really concerned that the primary Canadian reaction to tariffs seems to be doubling down on nationalism and capitalism. Other worlds are possible ⤵️
trade war btwn imperialist allies (US & Canada) is means to use economic nationalism to rally behind otherwise status-quo. struggle between 'foreign' & 'domestic' capital maintains capitalism, hurts ppl through price gouging, reinforces racist nationalism & intensifies extraction on Indigenous lands

There have to be other ways to talk about political community inside nation-states without invoking nationalism. How about collective responsibility to those whom we share nothing in common with beyond the sanctity of life and geography? Let’s take the opportunity to invent new social relations.

My dream last night:

I had a with work meeting (I coordinate a federally funded research grant). Justin Trudeau stopped by, and with his shirt sleeves rolled up and tears in his eyes, he told us that all federal funding was over and I lost my job...

A premonition of things to come in Canada??
