In Southern California. Reply more than I post. 1/2 serious posts. 1/2 jokes. On the left, but probably either more left or not as left as you want. Utopia is for everyone's needs to be met sustainably.
Pic is unfairly maligned California delta smelt.
healthcare over all that, healthcare. But not over food. Foodstamps was a good argument to cave, except it's not clear they aren't order to pay foodstamps anyway.

everywhere if they let us have Chinese EVs.

A lot of races are basically uncontested. So that is only occasionally on the ballot.

does it change anything? Marijuana is already federal illegal, state legal.

these Senators are NOT the Senators who voted to end the shutdown.
If we are just naming Senators we dislike, and that list is far from the worst Senators as some on it are reasonably progressive, then I'll choose Adam Schiff.

doubling down on failure. A hydrogen fuel cell version, in the U.S. only CA has hydrogen stations. They are VERY expensive fuel. If it's too hot they don't work. If it's too cold they don't work (and we are talking California). And there is no green hydrogen.

is this the 2k stimulus check? I guess if it reaches the same people it could help pay insurance premiums. I wonder if it's even enough.
November 10, 2025 at 10:52 PM
can't be the democracy party and not have primaries either. But everyone overlooked it, as they had to, because noone except Trump voters wanted Trump and his brand of unmitigated disaster.
November 10, 2025 at 9:31 PM
sky isn't falling for who? It is falling for those on the ACA. I might side with food stamps over that except obviously food stamps were not at risk. Oh political point that noone will remember in a year was scored, meanwhile people on the ACA ...
November 10, 2025 at 8:49 PM
yep airlines get their way. Real sympathetic cause is poor people who need foodstamps to fucking eat, but they don't exactly have political power. Not sympathetic cause is the fuckin planes.
November 10, 2025 at 8:45 PM
yes everything I read, courts would rule quickly. And I'm just a dumb old citizen not a politician, not a lawyer.
IT IS NOT ABOUT FOODSTAMPS
IT IS NOT ABOUT HEALTHCARE
IT IS ABOUT THE GODDAMN AIRLINES and so rich fuckers can fly and airlines can profit.

he's right *sometimes*, is it worth putting up with his trolling and how very very wrong he is on the things he is wrong on? No, no it is not.

Contributing to an FSA lowers the amount contributed to social security I believe as it is pre social security tax income. I think health insurance employee contributions do as well. 401ks do not. Or that's how I remember it, I have looked into it, but it's hard to remember.
November 10, 2025 at 5:56 PM
and I always figure I want to put as much into social security as possible. Because I will be truly old someday (probably) and want all I can collect in my older poorer days.
November 10, 2025 at 5:51 PM
oh yea FSAs are bad. We have this discussion every year. But we can't seem to get beyond a ridiculous tax advantaged health account that is basically gambling. Oh I'm going to gamble on what healthcare expenses I have this year. No thanks.

November 10, 2025 at 5:23 PM
why I am No Party Preference in California, where it really doesn't matter as we have jungle primaries etc. But Dems are forever doing stuff that makes me angry, and I'll switch party in a huff. Because left of the Dem party, which isn't saying much.
November 10, 2025 at 5:11 PM
wasn't the whole point of the stay on food payments going out, that the government could not reclaim payments once they went out, that it was "irreparable harm" or some such shit. Isn't that the reasoning about why the stay was allowed? Well is it irreparable or not?

or just an increase in theft from supermarkets, and then they can run on being tough on crime.

November 9, 2025 at 6:17 AM
there's fraud, there is the usual voter suppression techniques like making voting hard (and then some, there were bomb threats that day afterall), and then there is just voters are idiots. The second two I need little convincing of, voter suppression techniques are used, voters disappoint.
November 8, 2025 at 4:18 PM
the center or just left of center is the majority of the Dem party politicians. But if they can't call Dems Marxists they have nothing left.
November 8, 2025 at 4:09 PM
theft may be of minimal relevance to their work, not everyone is producing entertainment or advertising content. And hallucinations are something anyone who uses it is aware of our should be. Like the main use case I've heard is summarizing boring documents.
