I think Ben provided a good example of Clinton echoing what seemed to be an orthodoxy of mainstream left-leaning twitter accounts at the time. I'm more making a point about regular peoples' unremarkable daily interactions with it online. But many democrats did adopt the language to their detriment.

Yes. There was something real to some of the various criticisms. The majority of people here are denying all of them absolutely in a way that I think most people find off putting. I still voted for and vigorously advocated for Clinton and Harris.

I very, very, very clearly didn't say that

Don't talk authoritatively on this because you're flat out wrong. I was on twitter, facebook, normal mainstream social media, and it very definitely was the water most of us were swimming in. Feels like some sort of bizarre gaslighting, but accusing critics of being right wingers was always the move

Did we live on separate planets from ~2013-2021? This was the dominant posture that Democrats took that most people took notice of and which hurt their brand tremendously. It's hard to believe you honestly don't know what he's talking about.

He undermined a strategy that was having success and which had the voters behind it. For little more than soft promises from famously untrustworthy people.

Absolutely hollow words without calling out the president he support's own constant and inflammatory rhetoric.

I really want to believe in the power of truth to prevail through discussion, but that is sadly appearing more like an absurd fantasy. Propaganda is just too predictably effective at this point. It barely matters how ridiculous something is if you can say it to enough ignorant people quickly enough.

One thing that's hard to deny is that he was a skilled debater. He mastered his persuasive tone and had an instinct for delivering viral gotchas - gotchas that would in fact crumble under the briefest analysis, but very effective on politically under-informed people and those seeking confirmation.

Case in point - the Epstein files. He was happy to speculate on them all day long while the attention was on Democrats. Suddenly the story turns to Trump and he somehow gets over it all? A dead-obvious partisan playing his role. Our political discussions have been so polluted by bad actors like him.
