Supporter of Rejoining the EU. Christian, Whiggish, Wednesdayite, metalhead, partial to real ale and slightly geeky.
Britain needs more tourism, not less.

I'm not convinced that this won't be used to introduce tourist taxes in places that don't get the influx of tourists needed to make these levies worthwhile.

The tradition they seem to be harking back to is 17th / 18th century Toryism. That's certainly where they seem to get their disdain for Liberalism from.

Can politicians please give the cringeworthy AI nonsense a swerve? All it does is make you look like an even bigger dingleberry.

Which is quite something in the case of Mayor Oliver Coppard! 🤣

I'm not sure I can agree with @thatginamiller.bsky.social on this one.

It's probably for the best that the First Lord of the Treasury has been leading the way for working from home since 1732!

War Memorial: "Lest We Forget"

Recently planted #Remembrance tree right next to it. Because we forgot!

No decent second hand book shops left where you are?

When I was growing up, rock was the music of youth and rebellion.

In 2025 it's the soundtrack to grab-a-granny nights!

When did the Thornbridge motto change from "Innovation, Passion, Knowledge" to "Hike, Bike, Climb"? 🤔🤣

I found out today that knobology is not the study of Twitter gobshites.

Knobology is in fact the study of controls on ultrasound machines!

It's often overlooked how many of the leading lights of the "Christian Nationalist" movement are men who've left denominations on bad terms. The most glaring example of this being Calvin Robinson.

It's a glaring red flag that we keep seeing time and again!

Birthday book haul.

Will reading Caesars Histories make me sympathise with Cato the Younger? 🤔🤣

The greatest happiness of the greatest number is an outstanding concept that's led to numerous outstanding policies.

Also worth remembering that it's not just us Liberals who have these issues.

Labour has the same problem of lacking a big vision. And it's more pronounced for them as they are the ones in office right now!

Watching "K-Pop: Demon Hunters".

Can't work out if it's the naffest thing ever or so naff it's hilarious!

With regret, I disagree with the below. Racism is at the heart of the darkness of human nature and sadly, racism sells.

I'm sure there's a rude joke I could make about something among the publications on my top shelf! 🤔

Yes there is a Whig theory of history as an onward march towards progress. This was a product of triumphal times. Maybe we need more Whiggishness to get things improving again?
October 25, 2025 at 3:05 AM
Nope, not black enough! 🤣

IMHO, the way forward for Liberalism is to get back to basics.

We can't take anything for granted but we do need to be able to explain why such unfashionable notions as democracy, accountability, tolerance and equality before the law remain vital for our society.

If anyone is guilty of a nonsensical framing of #nokings it's you George Owers.

America even had its own Whig Party, opposed to "King" Andrew Jackson. Which was the precursor to the Republican Party of Abraham Lincoln. www.britannica.com/topic/Whig-P...

Just in case we need to make containerised shipping any more metal than it already is! 🤣

Regrettably, personality cults have been one of the most successful electoral strategies in my lifetime.

Tony Blair, Boris Johnson, Jeremy Corbyn, Barak Obama, Donald Trump and Nigel Farage have all cultivated personality cults to some degree of success.
