Hmm. I think it might be you who has forgotten about Ireland in this instance. Every Irish historian views the 1918 GE as the pivotal moment. In case you’re not aware Ireland was still part of the U.K. so Irish constituencies were British constituencies. The first page of Wikipedia spells this out

It may sound like semantics but is technically quite different in that Turkey has a customs union with the EU but is not part of the EU customs union. Neither is Northern Ireland (that was May’s proposal).

When I look at this, other than the dip around Covid, the Democrats have been remarkably stable. A small uptick around Biden which is to expected from his covid relief program. It’s the Republicans who are batshit and not living in the real world. I’m afraid two-sidesism doesn’t work here.
