ROOT ROT by Saskia Nislow is a ripper. A queer horror novella that took me deep into the earth.

Welp, the man who wrote Sátántangó won the Nobel Prize for Lit and so I must drop myself into this novel. I started reading it a few months ago and immediately fell into something like a fugue state. Which tracks for a writer who has worked with Belá Tarr.

What a wonderful book by @drkatemarvel.bsky.social. I'd be annoyed that she's a brilliant scientist *and* a beautiful writer if her work wasn't such a gift for all of us.

"If it was 1970, I'd have a job in a factory." In fact, I've worked in factories, kinda, for about a decade. I like this view.

It's no wonder some artists managed to live in the Providence Place Mall. At least half of its square footage is liminal space.

This weekend's joy was pulling off a surprise 40th birthday party for my baby sister. Drove to Maine with the car packed to the brim with party stuff and she still had no idea until we turned onto the street where the party was (at her friend's house). Also: 3 labs is too many, folks.

Me, 8, singing: "Let's go crash that party down in Normaltown tonight" - no idea I'd be in a band where I wore a hot pink wig and sang in 3 part harmonies 15 years later

In June 1989, the Toyota caravan was the ultimate family vehicle and the B-52s' COSMIC THING got stuck in my family's caravan tape deck. My life? Irreparably altered. Good thing my mom is not at all troubled or surprised by my blatant queerness. (This record still SLAPS. Ultimate summer album.)

Here's a very stupid thing that lifted my heart a little. Tonight on the Libby app, I found a book by the legendary Buddhist teacher, Thich Nhat Hank.
