Short of knowing the Batman cartoon would continue with appearances of the Joker, we know Phantasm killed that guy. Even if she ended up botching her aim, 4/5 of the men in this photo were killed by her.

I like to harp on Scorsese as a fella I like more than I love (and especially 21st Century Scorsese almost uniformly leaves me cold) but the man has gone to the mat for cinema's survival as an artform and has more than a few masterpieces where he locked in and shook us up.
