Me too. I expect we will get health care legislation or an education bill to rein in the cost of college and expand subsidies to pre-k.

Yeah, I hope you are right, but after Democrats let the John Lewis Voting Rights Act fail due to the filibuster in 2021-2022, I'm not holding my breath. You're more optimistic than I am about the federal government, and I am more optimistic than most. I hope you are correct.

Probably few, but with the gaslighting of democrats by moderates and given what states they represent, I will be pleasantly surprised if they are replaced with New Deal Democrats who support filibuster abolition.

This is the best course of action for democrats.

While it stinks that around 30 million Americans are uninsured, and that is truly a tragedy, there is also opportunity in this delay. We have the chance to learn from the 50+ universal systems around the world and implement the best possible systems at the state level.

The best course of action now is to pass healthcare legislation at the state level to address our broken healthcare system. Each democratic state adopts its own universal healthcare system, taking advantage of our last mover advantage to design a masterful system.

It is unnecessarily kneecapping the ability of Democrats to get work done when we regain government.
It is reckless, cruel, and unnecessary.
I doubt these 8 senators will vote to abolish the filibuster in 2029 when we will likely have a trifecta.

This is not just going to throw millions of Americans off their health insurance, it is also going to make it substantially more difficult for Democrats to pass legislation in the future, in 2029 when we will probably have a majority in both houses.
This was a betrayal of how we voted last week.
