What I’ve seen out of Lake Lure, Boone, and Swannanoa is super scary! Chimney Rock village is gone. Asheville was decimated.

Helene has absolutely devastated WNC. I was in NYC for Sandy, and this has been scarier.
We tried getting the kids out this morning as suggested by our power coop, but got turned around on the highway because “the bridge collapsed.” Finally saw a pic tonight:

By far the worst take I’ve ever seen from The Verge. Understand everyone’s gotta get paid and you gotta do your share of clickbait but… “deceptively trims” in a headline, when the “news” is they screenshotted the top half (non-self-promo) part of a tweet! Holy shit irresponsible journalism!

I’ve often heard people give founders the advice, “Build things that solve your own problems.” I never did that, because I don’t have problems.

I don’t know anyone saying the company will fail *because* he rebranded it to X. Rather, vaporizing the brand equity is one bad idea in a string of them—a desperate attention grab by a failing company.

My feeling is that folks would like a more direct acknowledgement from the Bluesky team that they messed up. Every tech company does it—it’s what you learn from it and how you move forward that matters. When we messed up at Kickstarter a decade ago, we published a blog post titled, “We Were Wrong.”

Been watching this nest the past few weeks. Got to see the eggs hatch and the baby birds grow. Tonight we heard a thump against the window and noticed one of the baby birds just outside. Figured they were fledging. Flipped on the lights and caught this rat snake choking one of them down.
