I do find them perfect for spooning capers out of a (wide mouth) jar so you can drain some of the brine off.

From my formative years, Hamptons shopping expects a swimsuit and a wrap until Labor Day or so. Then they expect something more in the line of actual clothes.

One of the folks from my undergrad theater group was one of the first American competitors on this (Crash). I quite enjoyed seeing him and it added to his lore with the folks who knew him.

I've found bringing "non-alcoholic drinks that aren't Coke/Pepsi products" blows people's minds. I'm a big fan of a couple of packs of niche root beer/ginger ale/other or a 12 pack assortment of Jarritos.
