I'm Jewish. I'm also Mancunian.

Every other national party leader was interviewed by Laura Kunesberg during their conference.

Maybe the BBC thought as someone who also supports Palestine - I had nothing to say?

We must tackle inequality.

Your bills are not high because of migrants.

The NHS is not crumbling because of migrants.

It's because of politicians who only serve the super rich. 👇🏼

I started using DuckDuckGo again because of G**gle's use of AI in their search engine.
Iooks like I'll have to go back to it (though in the udm14 variant that disables AI) as today I find this when I use DDG :(

The fact he’s put a 10% tariff on the Heard and McDonald Island which is solely populated by penguins is AMAZING.

Somehow missed this bit of the OBR report in mainstream media 😠
OBR March 2025

"Weak growth in imports and exports over the medium term partly reflect the continuing impact of Brexit"

"Which we expect to reduce the overall trade intensity of the UK economy by 15 per cent in the long term"

Brexit is making us poorer

Personally I'd say cancelling the state visit is at the tame end of actions to take. What point is there in diplomatic relations of any sort with this maniac? There's more to life than money and it if hits us to to have principles I'm good with that 😡

What I like best about this is the footnote, "Perfect is the enemy of good." I'm so bored of being given the excuse that it's pointless doing anything if you can't do everything. Do what you can and don't stress when you can't.
European consumers have reacted to Donald Trump's hostile business strategy by creating a directory for those seeking to boycott US-made products.

Still on a high after a perfect day with Carmen Consoli in London yesterday. The most magnificent concert celebrating the release of her new album, recorded at a concert I had attended in Siracusa, Sicily in 2023. Lovely to finally meet and chat with her earlier in the day, as well ❤️

I've always loved the fact that the word 'sneeze' is the result of a historical accident. The original form, in the Middle Ages, was 'fnese', but someone mistook the 'f' for the long medieval 's' and wrote down 'sn-' instead.

Fneezing sounds much more like a proper, nasal sneeze.

Sad week as we finally wave goodbye to Drupal 7. I've built almost 100 websites with it over the past 12 years or so. The majority of those I still look after have moved to #Backdrop, with just a couple in the current version of #Drupal and even a handful in Wordpress. www.drupal.org/psa-2025-01-06

Normal service is sort of resumed after the Weaver has gone in and out of flood over the past three days. Just the small matter of -7 overnight temperatures to enjoy now

While we’re banning books…

Finland is teaching children in school how to recognize fake news and propaganda as part of critical thinking and civic responsibility. Some of this will seem very familiar.

Before and after, quite a bit of work done on the propeller then! MV Iris Abbott goes back into the Weaver on Friday.

Just been for a short wander. The river is getting back to normal, Iris is looking good in the dock and we’ve heard that her propellor will be back on Wednesday 😁

Rather a lovely view from Iris Abbott in the dock in Northwich this morning. We’re still in flood but the levels are dropping through town, according to the EA.

Hi all, another new social network rises to the top. Since leaving Twitter, the day Musk bought it, I've casually hung out on Mastodon, and I drop a small donation into the pot to help fund my local server, but sadly it's not really gained traction so it will be interesting to see what happens here.
