Too little, too late. 2027!!!!

China will have a dozen cars in this class with better battery tech, internal inclusions & at a lower price (even in the EU after tariffs).

China are not slowing down...they are just ramping up production & other OEMs are in big trouble

Maybe with Murdoch & Newscorp she might become prime minister, but in what reality is this nonsense demonstrating that she is fit to lead the UK?
Nasty, divisive, base politics at its worse!!

Hi Steve. I've updated my post with "Detailed Revenue Trends for German Automakers (2014–2024)" VW has €208B in debt, faces disaster as profits shrink. Factory closures, union tensions & production cuts signal systemic collapse. While the declines might seem small, they reveal an accelerating trend.
German Auto Imminent Collapse
The German auto industry has long been a symbol of engineering excellence and industrial might. For decades, global automakers aspired to match the precision, quality, and innovation of Germany’s gian...

I mean the German automakers; you indicated they are on the brink of collapse, & although anecdotally it does seem like they have huge problems (sales in China, stumbles in both EV & ICE models, factories closing, production slowdown, union issues etc), not clear that they can't survive

I don't disagree with what you mention on China because that is clear to see in sales, but anyone put together some hard numbers on the various brands sales, profits & profitability over the last decade to highlight how their financials have changed over say a decade?

Currently the LNP is polling ahead of Labour on a primary & 2PP basis, so yes it appears both likely to struggle to form a majority but Dutton ahead & Murdoch press will support LNP.
December 14, 2024 at 5:19 AM
Sadly I think Dutton gets in next year & the country loses $100bn, achieves nothing (well apart from proping up coal & gas) & pushes everything back 5 yrs. Media just not connecting the dots (eg home insurance unaffordable due to climate change events), people only see what Murdoch media pumps out

We need the cost of home batteries to come down to make the adoption similar to solar panels
The alternative is a community or grid scale battery economics work for home owners & then we will see real scale
Spending 5 figures for a >10yr payback does not work for most (with an EV, 6kwh solar system)

I'm assuming this will help reduce some of the noise around curtaining demand that is being communicated currently, but what timeframe & battery storage amount are we looking at to shut down coal power altogether

If they drives anything like the MG4 but is a step up in quality, they may be onto a winner (esp if this lands under $45k for the top spec)
December 12, 2024 at 12:38 PM
These would sell incredibly well in the west if they sorted out their quality & reputations issues.

If this has only now dawned on Albo, his govt deserve to loose the next election....anyone that is so oblivious can't be PM even if the alternative is a racist thug dressed in a suit

Surely there must be something tangible in the costs to south Australian consumers over the last decade
December 9, 2024 at 12:52 PM
Good to see a broader range of BEVs hitting the Aus market but I can't see how the AWD is worth $13k more than the xpeng g6.
Also the servicing cost with merc involved looks rather high - good luck to them, but pricing seems off

Do you know what the spikes in Apr20, Nov/Dec21, Nov/Dec22 relate to? Release of a new model or some credits/incentives before year end since 2021 driving those spikes. If so, will it repeat in 2024?

What about businesses looking to invest in equipment or people; with world trade depending on what Donny tweets while on his royal throne, how do businesses plan for the future?
November 27, 2024 at 12:24 PM
Agree that there is no need to carry around a battery to do 800kms when you may only do that amount of driving 2-3 days of the year.
The challenge for EV market is buyers understanding that, and the added one in Oz is lack of infrastructure for those that don't have access to a home charger
