Always a joy to hear and see the first #YellowbrowedWarbler of the autumn and this morning’s bird was in the heligoland @hilbrebirdobs.bsky.social our joint second earliest ever. Autumn has properly arrived this week 🍂💥 also at least 20 Chiffchaff on the island today and a smart male Stonechat too 😍

A great day on Wirral started @hilbrebirdobs.bsky.social with a fall of Chiffchaffs (including a British ringed control), my first HouseMartin of the year and our second Osprey of the day circled the Obs itself. Later I called in a couple of times to see the GreatGreyShrike at Leasowe #UKBirding

Last few hours on Islay and we squeezed in our second delightfully dainty Richardson’s Cackling Goose of the week, this one at Cornabus … a lovely way to finish another brilliant trip 🎥

Not been a bad week for geese either - as ever the Barnacle and Greenland White-fronted Geese that make Islay special but also nice to catch up with the adult RedbreastedGoose, Russian White-front, one of the RichardsonsCacklingGoose and a leucistic Barnie as well as PbBrent and Greylag) #UKbirding

It’s been an incredible week for eagles on #Islay with many WhitetailedEagle (up to six a day) around the Loch Gruinart area and up three GoldenEagle per day mainly along the road to Ardnave #UKBirding

A fabulous weekend at the Bird Obs Council meeting in Thetford …
Some great birding too! Highlights included GlaucousGull, SnowBunting, LesserWhitefront, Whitefront and BeanGeese plus 8 CommonCranes, GW and Cattle Egrets, 350+ WhooperSwans and RedKites and Marsh Harriers everywhere! ❤️
