Gov. Newsom is going for engagement with a certain demographic to try to expose them to ideas their media bubble does not allow. It is an obvious move and a good one for the Dems nationally. Campaigning for higher office is not an not an unexpected activity of governors.

On the other hand, purity tests aren't going to help Dems make any inroads on the GOP's seemingly constant campaign.

Let me introduce you to a word, "machista." Until you start drilling down into sexism and racism in the Hispanic community in the USA these "what happened" articles are of little value.

This is not discussed enough. The "humiliation" of living under a Black president caused lots of white people to self-radicalize. The "threat" of living under a female president caused even more radicalization and that radicalization grabbed new demographic chunks including many Hispanics.
