Yeah, while the old Naked Gun did have scenes like that to introduce Frank, those are not what I look back fondly on and are some of the things that have aged the most poorly.
But the portraits joke and stinger did work really well and do give some hope.

That was a fantastic episode! I always loved that sort of word play in things like Police Squad and Airplane. Great take on that!
