You laugh but a few weeks back a 140 year old cast iron drain pipe in our basement sprung a leak. Turns out it was previously repaired with a rubber patch that was at least 50 years old and starting to disintegrate. Currently “repaired” with an inner tube and zip ties. Should last another 50 years.

Our mortgage lender specifically warned us about this and waited to do the hard credit pull until after we confirmed that we had done fresh signups on the Do Not Call list, but we still got lots. Great system we have here!
