Let's talk about today's #NorthernRail commute. The ticket machine was out of order this morning. The screen showing departures was also not working. The platform shelter leaked so the rain still managed to get me wet. It took 3 trains to get home. Same ticket machine still out of order. Urgh.

My take is quite the opposite. Making it difficult to drive into a town or city simply adds to the growing list of problems they face. No people, no custom, no profit.
Spot on. Comprehensive pedestrianisation should be far higher up the agenda in our cities than it is. Nearly wherever cars go, cities get worse. Nearly wherever they’re removed, those urban spaces flourish.
Before & After: I don’t think people realize the extent to which parked cars degrade public space.
