When students study McCarthyism & other racist "fear the other" speech in history, they can recognize "divide & conquer" rhetoric today, including who profits & who loses.
You can try to talk about politics in this country without discussing race, but you’ll be missing the whole thing. The “fear the other” rhetoric works incredibly well in the country and it always has. And until we have a better understanding of our past and our present, it always will.
